I re-visited my old home (U.S. Naval Home, Gulfport, MS) just after Hurricane Katrina devastated the Mississippi Gulf Coast on August 29, 2005. I went to my old room (1711) and couldn't remove the sign I had posted there, "Home Sweet Home"...but I did manage to remove a printing of an old axiom I live by:

I just want to make a brief observation that there are people actively involved in whatever activity they want to promote or sell, whether it be religion, politics, philosophy, or drugs.
I admire these people, for the most part--especially those who truly believe in what they are doing. These 'doorknockers and bellringers' range from the young Mormon lads riding their bicycles and well-dressed and unpretentious members of religious organizations like the Jehovah's Witnesses, to the protesters of unjust wars and torture by governments. Those I detest are those familiar TV bigots like Sean Hannity, radio personalities like Rush Limbaugh, and complete fools like Bill O'Reilly. Then there are the super-religious bigots who are making money hand over fist by selling a religion they apparently have no faith in, and whose downfall was brought about by their own insincerity in what they were selling...I refer to people like Jim Baker. I once knew a 'reverend' who was so hypocritical that he denounced his own daughter as 'the Whore of Babylon' to his congregation.
Those kind of people sicken me. Yet I admire those who truly get out and try to convince others that th
